Purpose/Goal:

In-house recovery centers provide a unique opportunity for innovation in donor management practices to increase the number of organs transplanted per donor. Based on the experiences of the Legacy of Hope Donor Recovery Center in Alabama, this webinar will highlight strategies for implementing an in-house donor recovery center, the unique opportunities it presents, and its impact on hospital partnerships. Join us to learn more about the successes and challenges associated with developing a Donor Recovery Center.

At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Outline the advantages of having a hospital associated In-house Donor Recovery Center.
  • Identify donor management strategies used in an in-house recovery center and its impact on organs transplanted per donor.
  • Describe the impact of organ preservation technologies in a Donor Recovery Center, including the use of kidney pumps.

Target Audience:
Members of the donation and transplantation community serving diverse populations to include administrators, coordinators, physicians, nurses, surgeons, managers, quality improvement specialists, social workers, and other donation and transplantation center professionals and their colleagues.

CEPTC - The Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance is offering 1.0 Category I CEPTC credit from the American Board for Transplant Certification.
