2:00-3:00pm ET/ 11:00am - 12:00pm PT

Immunologic rejection continues to be a significant barrier to successful, long term graft survival in organ transplant recipients. Understanding how anti-HLA antibodies are involved in transplantation is key to appropriately tailoring a patient’s immunosuppression plan. This webinar will focus on understanding how antibodies are involved in transplant rejection, the role the histocompatibility laboratory plays in the transplant process, and what barriers remain in identifying and treating antibody mediated rejection in patients.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Describe what antibodies are and how they affect organ transplant survival.
  • Recognize how the histocompatibility laboratory tests patients for anti-HLA antibodies.
  • Discuss the challenges and limitations to antibody testing in the laboratory.

  • Peter N. Lalli, PhD, D(ABHI)
  • Valinda Jones, MSN, RN (Moderator)
