Protect the Skin You’re In: Early Detection and Prevention of Skin Cancer

When:
Presented on August 27, 2019

Continuing education credits available until:
August 27, 2020

Purpose/Goal:

Transplant recipients are at a higher risk for developing skin cancer compared to the general population. This risk can be up to 100-fold higher due to the recipient’s need for immunosuppression medications after transplant. That being said, pre-transplant screening and patient education are essential components of the evaluation process for potential recipients and require a team approach by dermatology and the transplant care providers. Join us as we explore the best practices associated with prevention, early detection, and treatment of skin cancer for patients, pre and post-transplant.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the associated risks for skin cancer, pre-transplant.
  • Identify the risk factors for skin cancer specific to people of color.
  • Discuss the best practices for prevention of post-transplant skin cancer as determined by the multi-disciplinary care team.

Moderator/Speakers:

  • Sarah Arron MD, PhD
  • Rebecca Brown MSN, RN, CCTC (Moderator)
